Paying Taxes in 2020

To be timely, payment of 2020 property taxes must be received or postmarked no later than December 31, 2020. Interest, penalties and fees will accrue if payment is late.

To save time and avoid crowds, online payment is encouraged. The online payment website payments.jacksongov.org will close at 11 p.m. on December 31, 2020. Taxes paid online after the website reopens in 2021 will accrue interest, penalties and fees pursuant to Missouri statutes.

Jackson County Collection and Assessment departments will be offering extended Saturday hours in December.  The Historic Truman Courthouse will be open from 8:00 am to Noon Saturday December 5, 12, and 19, 2020. 

A drop box for property tax payments is located at the west door of the Jackson County Courthouse in Kansas City (415 E 12th Street) and at the front door of the Historic Truman Courthouse in Independence (112 W Lexington). Both drop boxes will close at midnight. Do not place cash in either drop box. Make checks payable to: Jackson County Collector.
