Obtaining a Statement of Non-Assessment

To obtain a statement of non-assessment (tax waiver) you must bring the following documents to our offices:

Step 1.If you are already an established Jackson County resident:

  • Please bring your government issued driver's license, state I.D., or passport. 
  • And your Vehicle Titles, Vehicle Registrations or Renewals
  • Or proof of vehicle disposal, including proof of the date of sale/disposal (if trying to get a vehicle removed).
    • Acceptable documents may include copy of document showing trade-in, including Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) of vehicle sold or receipt from the business that received your vehicle (donated or sold for scrap), including full description.

Step 2.If you are a Missouri resident moving to Jackson County from another county within Missouri:

  • Please bring your government issued driver's license, state I.D., or passport. 
  • Please bring a copy of your Tax Receipt or a Tax Waiver from the county from which you're moving.
  • And your Titles, Vehicle Registrations or Renewals.

Step 3.If you are a new resident to Missouri (moving from another state):

  • Please bring your government issued driver's license, state I.D., or passport.
  • And a copy of your Vehicle Registrations from the previous year covering January 
  • And/or documents below can be any combination but must cover January 1 with an out-of-state address for the past year.
    • Bank statements (P.O. Box addresses will not be accepted), and/or
    • Utility Bill (indicating "service at" address), and/or
    • Lease Agreement or Mortgage Payment Statement, and/or
    • Credit Card statement (P.O. Box addresses will not be accepted)

Step 4.If you are member of the United States Armed Forces and your Home of Record is out of state:

  • Please bring your government issued driver's license, state I.D., or passport.
  • And your Titles, Vehicle Registrations or Renewals and your LES or DD214 Military Form
