Chapter 6 and Chapter 10 of the Jackson County Code provide for the establishing of a program to diversify and expand contracting opportunities for minority, women and veteran owned companies desiring to do business with Jackson County. For contracts or projects over $50,000 the Compliance Review Office determines availability of MBE and WBE contractors, sets goals and can assist the general contractor with meeting and complying with set goals. To participate in the program, contractors must be certified as MBE or WBE firms through the City of Kansas City or the State of Missouri. Participation in the Veteran Owned Business Enterprise Program is voluntary.
