Jackson County Executive statement in support of Congressman Hakeem Jeffries for House Minority Leader

KANSAS CITY, Mo.  –  Jackson County Executive Frank White, Jr. has issued the following statement in support of Congressman Hakeem Jeffries’ candidacy for House Minority Leader:

“As we reflect on the end of an historic era on Capitol Hill, guided by the remarkable leadership of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, we now look forward with excitement of a new day. This new day, too, will be one for the history books. 

“Congressman Hakeem Jeffries today announced his candidacy for House Minority Leader. If elected by his peers, he would be the first black lawmaker to lead a party in Congress. It’s never easy being the first; I know that firsthand. But I also know that putting people over politics is the hallmark of an effective leader to getting things done.
