KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Jackson County Executive Frank White, Jr. issued the following statement in response to recent calls for his resignation:

"Let’s be clear: resigning wouldn’t save taxpayers a dime – it would cost them more, potentially billions over time. And it would hand over the keys to people like DaRon McGee and Manny Abarca, who’ve shown they’re more interested in cutting blank checks to private billion-dollar corporations and rewarding political allies than protecting the public.

“What’s even more troubling is who’s trying to paint me as corrupt. I have never stolen a dollar from taxpayers. I have never been convicted of a crime. I have never been accused of domestic violence or sexual harassment – in or out of public office. The same cannot be said for some of the very people calling for my resignation. And now they want to lecture the public about integrity? That’s not accountability; it’s deflection. A distraction designed to gain power, control and money.

“I won’t walk away and let them sell out our future just to win a political fight. My job is to defend the law, protect tax dollars and stand up for what’s right. And that’s exactly what I’ll do."
