Jackson County commends community response following tornado warnings

 

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Severe storms and multiple tornado warnings moved through Jackson County this afternoon, including an unconfirmed report of a tornado near Raytown and the Truman Sports Complex. All tornado warnings have now expired, but additional rain and possible storms are expected through the evening. Residents should remain alert, avoid driving through standing water and monitor trusted weather sources as the risk of localized flooding continues. 

Jackson County is in close contact with local municipalities and emergency responders and is ready to assist as needed. 

"While full assessments are still underway, we’re incredibly grateful for the swift and selfless actions of our emergency responders and residents,” said Jackson County Executive Frank White, Jr. “Moments like these remind us that public service is about being present, dependable and compassionate when people need you most. I want to sincerely thank our first responders, county staff and community partners. Their dedication is a powerful example of leadership in action.”
