Jackson County Executive issues statement on Court’s dismissal of Missouri Attorney General’s lawsuit
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Jackson County Executive Frank White, Jr. today issued a statement regarding the Circuit Court’s decision to dismiss with prejudice the Missouri Attorney General’s lawsuit against the County. This outcome marks the latest in a series of legal victories as Jackson County works to correct longstanding issues in its property reassessment process.
A dismissal “with prejudice” means the case is permanently closed and cannot be refiled, putting an end to this particular challenge. The County has faced numerous lawsuits since initiating reforms to its reassessment practices and the County has prevailed in every case.
“This has been a long and challenging process for Jackson County and its residents,” said Jackson County Executive Frank White, Jr. “I want to thank the people of Jackson County for their patience and understanding as we’ve worked to address problems that have been decades in the making. Our goal remains ensuring that every property owner is treated fairly under the law.”
The County also addressed the role misinformation has played in complicating these efforts.
“Certain individuals have chosen to mislead and confuse the public about this process for personal or political gain, which has made an already difficult situation harder for everyone,” said White. “We remain focused on moving forward in a way that benefits all Jackson County residents.”
As Jackson County continues its efforts to reform its assessment process, this latest decision brings additional clarity to a complex issue. The County remains committed to fairness, transparency, and compliance with the law.
