Jackson County Executive raises $21,000 in support of two local charities during annual golf tournament
Girls on the Run and CAPA each receive $10,500 during check presentations
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Jackson County Executive Frank White, Jr. is delighted to share that the annual Frank White, Jr. Jackson County Charity Golf Tournament has raised a total of $21,000. Earlier this month, golf enthusiasts teed off at the Fred Arbanas Golf Course to show their support for two local organizations: Girls on the Run of Greater Kansas City and the Child Abuse Prevention Association (CAPA). County Executive White initiated the golf tournament in 2016, merging one of his cherished pastimes with his dedication to philanthropy within the community.
The mission of Girls on the Run is to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun experience-based curriculum, which creatively integrates running. CAPA, founded in 1975, has a mission to prevent and treat all forms of child abuse by creating changes in individuals, families and society that strengthen relationships and promote healing.
In special presentations this week, County Executive White proudly delivered checks to each organization in the amount of $10,500. Pictures are attached for your use.
"It’s exciting to see that this annual golf tournament has once again proven to be a powerful force for good in our community,” said Jackson County Executive Frank White, Jr. “Through the collective efforts of our generous participants and sponsors, we have raised vital funds to support these worthy causes. Together, we are making a meaningful difference and contributing to the betterment of our community."
“Girls on the Run is so grateful for the generosity and support from the annual Frank White, Jr. Jackson County Charity Golf Tournament,” said President & CEO Gina Lichte. “These funds will secure opportunities for girls to activate their limitless potential and impact our community for the better. Thank you.”
"CAPA is honored to be one of the Frank White, Jr. Jackson County Charity Golf Tournament recipients this year,” said President & CEO Rochelle Parker. “The generous donation from the event will support CAPA's prevention and treatment services benefiting our community's most vulnerable children. We are extremely grateful for the County Executive's support in healing hearts and homes!"
Jackson County is honored to provide funding for numerous agencies throughout the year. In an effort to maximize community impact, the goal of the tournament is to support local charities the County isn’t able to service through the legislative process.
To date, the annual golf tournament has raised $134,500 benefitting multiple charities, including the Children’s Center for the Visually Impaired, Drumm Farm Center for Children, Sleepy Head Beds, Veterans Community Project, University Health Diabetes Center, University Health Sickle Cell Center and FosterAdopt Connect.
