Walktober Riverfront Heritage Trail 2022

Riverfront2.png

Walk, ride or run a different trail every Sunday in October! The month of October is ideal for exercising outside ~ the temperatures are cool and the colors are spectacular. Walktober makes the most of this great season by inviting participants on a tour of autumn’s most vibrant landscapes and inspiring everyone to make movement a priority!! Dogs on leashes are welcome. Commemorative Walktober buttons, designed by artist Liz Vargas, for the first 200 participants at each location. Attend all four events and collect all four designs!

This segment starts at West Pennway, passes over a pedestrian bridge at I-670 and connects on the north with downtown. Through the Westside Neighborhood enjoy art works associated with the Mayan culture. The trail lighting reflects the Spanish-American background of many of the residents. Other features: a decorative pedestrian bridge with an excellent view of Kaw Valley as it connects the oldest parks in Kansas City, (the bridge features iron work depicting frequent flocks of birds in the area), and a 5,500 lb fiberglass Hereford Bull replica in Mulkey Square.
