Public Works Week celebrated

From snow plowing to road grading, inspections to waste collections, infrastructure to facilities and so much more our dedicated Public Works team keeps our county running smoothly every single day.

Please join Jackson County in recognizing National Public Works Week May 18 to 24, 2025.

The third week of May has been celebrated as National Public Works Week since 1960. In 1962, President John F. Kennedy issued a proclamation describing public works as vitally important to our national health and welfare and praising the dedicated efforts of public works professionals.

“It is in the public interest for the citizens and civic leaders of this country to gain knowledge of and to maintain a progressive interest in the public works needs and programs of their respective communities,” the proclamation reads.

This year’s theme, “People, Purpose, Presence,” highlights the three ideals that motivate public works professionals to serve in their communities every day.

County Executive Frank White, Jr., took time during the week to talk with Jackson County Public Works associates. He also presented proclamations to the three divisions of the Public Works Department - Administration, Engineering and Planning Division, Facilities Division and the Road and Bridge Maintenance Division.

The Jackson County Legislature passed a resolution May 19, honoring Public Works Week and recognizing the contributions of Jackson County’s Public Works Employees.
