Jackson County and the city of Lee’s Summit have signed an agreement that restores an important service for the city’s residents.

For several years, Lee's Summit residents have needed to go to the Jackson County Courthouse to pay their property taxes because the service was no longer available at City Hall.

County Executive, Phil LeVota said, “I believe government should be convenient and accessible. If we can make it easier for residents to do business with Jackson County, that's exactly what we should do. That's why I'm pleased to sign this agreement with Mayor Beto Lopez and the City of Lee's Summit.”

“I want to thank Mayor Lopez for his partnership and his commitment to improving customer service for the people of Lee's Summit. This agreement is another example of what we can accomplish when local governments work together,” he said.

Once both parties have completed the agreement, Lee's Summit residents will once again have the convenience of paying their Jackson County property taxes at Lee's Summit City Hall instead of having to travel downtown.

“It's a simple change, but one that will make a real difference for thousands of taxpayers. I'm proud to sign this agreement today, and I look forward to continuing to strengthen our partnership with the City of Lee's Summit,” LeVota said.
