Published on March 25, 2025
Springtime is upon us, and it is time to get out and enjoy some fresh air. There is no better way to enjoy the outdoors than by camping at one of Jackson County’s three public campgrounds.
Campgrounds open April 1, so make your reservations today.
Fleming Park is home to Lake Jacomo Campground and Blue Springs Lake Campground. The park boasts 7,800 acres of natural parkland just 15 minutes east of Kansas City off I-470. Both the Lake Jacomo and Blue Springs Lake campgrounds offer easy access to boating, water sports, hiking, historic sites and a public beach.
Lake Jacomo, with its large, shady and secluded camp setting, attracts thousands of RV and tent campers each year. Blue Springs Lake offers spacious and modern campsites in a serene park setting.
Longview Lake Park offers 4,900 park acres, more than 100 campsites, modern facilities, lovely grounds and a unique location offering convenient access to golf, boating, biking/hiking trails and a public beach.
The Parks + Rec Department continues to make popular upgrades to campground facilities. Over the past few seasons 11 full hook-up sites were upgraded to concrete pad Premier sites at Jacomo Campground. Three new concrete pad Premiere sites were added to the Longview Campground as well as a new laundry facility.
