Diana Smith was recently named Jackson County’s Director of Recorder of Deeds. She took over the position January 18.
Smith has an extensive business background with master’s degrees in both Business Administration and Management from Webster University. Her undergraduate degree is a B.A. in Mass-Media from Washburn University.
She has been with Jackson County since 2017 serving as the County’s Deputy Director of Collections. Before joining the County, Smith worked for the city of Kansas City from 2012 until 2017. She also worked at Mazuma Credit Union and Daimler Chrysler Financial Services.
“I am very humbled and honored to be selected as the Recorder of Deed's Director,” she said. “I am eager to continue to utilize my 20-plus years of leadership experience and collaborate with the staff tapping into their years of valuable experience to expand my understanding into another facet of Jackson County.”
“My Jackson County Collections experience has already shown to be beneficial as I transition, gaining a greater understanding and connection between the two departments. I will forever be grateful for the staff, knowledge and experience I have gained working in the Collections Department,” Smith said.
Smith serves on several local boards including, Community Outreach Partners for Empowerment, Kansas City Credit Union and Urban S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Inc.
On the rare occasion that she has free time, she likes to relax and travel with her husband Kevin. She also enjoys writing and doing voice-over narrations.
