Get a look inside the sometimes-turbulent friendship between Eleanor Roosevelt and the man who replaced her husband in the Whitehouse, President Harry S Truman, during Omnibus Theatre’s presentation of “The Readings Between Eleanore Roosevelt and President Truman”. The free event will feature Nancy Eppert as Eleanore and John Pritchard as President Truman.

Roosevelt was the longest serving first lady of the United States, during her husband Franklin D. Roosevelt’s four terms as president from 1933 to 1945. Over the years, she and Truman exchanged more than 250 letters. The correspondence shows that although the two often disagreed, she was a trusted advisor.

The event will be held at 1:00 p.m. in the Brady Courtroom inside Historic Truman Courthouse in Independence.
