Venessa Huskey

Venessa Huskey is a retired Program Analyst for the Bureau of Fiscal Services -Department of the Treasury and took a buyout after 18 years of service from AT&T. Beginning 2007, she was a neighborhood and community liaison for the city of Kansas City, Mo for eight years. Although community involvement was her job, she built relationships with the community and the neighborhoods she served. She provided neighborhood services and resources to all. She also taught block watch training and crime prevention as a partner with KCPD south, metro, east and central patrol divisions.

Education

Ms. Huskey attended KC public schools. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from UMKC.

Family

Ms. Huskey has one daughter and three grandsons.

Community involvement

Ms. Huskey found that her passion is working WITH and in the community. She is a volunteer for the arts, the museums, dance, theater, and music, i.e. Folly, KC Rep, Symphony, KC Ballet, Negro League Baseball Museum, American Jazz Museum, Starlight, KC Fringe, KC Film Festival, Alzheimer's Association, American Cancer Society and Susan B. Komen. She is an active member and attends Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church where Wallace Hartsfield II is the pastor. Ms. Huskey also serves as the Jackson County Democratic Committeewoman for the 23rd Ward.
