Jackson County seeks proposals for $3 million in grant funding for health center construction, improvement projects

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Jackson County is announcing that it has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) seeking qualified respondents in need of funding for health center construction and capital improvements as authorized by the American Rescue Plan. Through this funding opportunity, the County is making available up to $3 million to support infrastructure costs for health center construction, expansion, alteration, renovation and other capital improvements.

“The pandemic has brought to light the stark disparities in health care affordability and access for residents in low-income communities,” said Jackson County Executive Frank White, Jr. "We have implemented innovative and effective programming in the Our Healthy KC Eastside initiative to reverse that trend but that’s just the beginning. I believe that by providing this grant funding, we can advance efforts to build a better and more equitable Jackson County.”

“We know there is a great need to increase health care services in Jackson County and the American Rescue Plan provides us the ability to support those agencies who are doing the work to keep our most vulnerable residents healthy and safe,” said 2nd District Jackson County Legislator Ron Finley. “I hope those who are eligible take advantage of this unique opportunity that will make our community stronger.”

The County will provide funding in the form of a grant, which can be used to support one or more of the following types of projects:

  • Construction of a New Facility
  • Construction/Expansion of an Existing Facility
  • Alteration/Renovation of an Existing Facility
  • Equipment Only

The amount of funding awarded to each recipient will be determined by the County, based upon the need, impact and ability to implement of each proposal. Proposed projects must occur September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2024.

Proposals are due September 20, 2022. The Request for Proposal No. 81-22 can be found on the Jackson County website.
