The County Executive shall appoint an acting/interim Sheriff who shall serve until January 1, following the next general election (November 2018). (Art. III Sec. 6.1-Acting Officers; Art. VII, Sec. 2-Sheriff's Vacancy)

2. Qualified Voter
3. Resided in Jackon County for three years prior to assuming office
4. POST certified (law enforcement officer certified for a first class county)
5. No Felony Conviction
Candidates shall have met, the training qualifications required by state law of police officers serving in first-class charter counties. If a candidate does not believe that he or she currently satisfies this requirement, they should be prepared to provide information regarding this issue and their plans to satisfy the requirement.
