Jackson County’s top golf pro is now the Midwest Senior Player of the Year.
Jeff Sedorcek, head golf pro at Fred Arbanas Golf Course, was recently named the PGA Midwest Senior Player of the Year following the 2019 season.
Player of the year is decided by who gains the most points over 13 tournaments during the year. Sedorcek won six of the events, placed second in three and third in two.
For his win Sedorcek was presented with the traveling trophy and a plaque. He also qualified to play in the national senior player championship in Austin October 1 where he finished 83 in a field of 265.
“I’m very honored because it is with my peers and I beat some real good players who have won this trophy a couple of times,” Sedorcek said. “Most of my peers have their names on this trophy and it makes me feel good that I can be a part of that.”
At the age of 51, this was his second year to play in the senior division. Last year he finished fifth. Sedorcek started playing golf at the age of five and went on to play golf in college at Kansas State University. He started at Fred Arbanas as an assistant pro in 1994 and took over the head pro job in 2010. Before becoming head pro and playing in Class A, he played in the Assistant’s bracket where he won eight times.
Sedorcek said he plans to keep the trophy at the Pro Shop at the course.
