One of Jackson County’s most popular historic sites will come to life this weekend through the music and dance of expert interpreters. They’ll share their passion for skills such as cooking over a wood fire, woodworking and blacksmithing. A mule-powered sorghum mill provides a first-hand look at how sorghum is produced into syrup.

Explore the unique, handcrafted gifts offered by talented artists and don’t forget to stop by the food court, featuring your favorite festival foods. Visit with staff and volunteers as they prepare homemade apple butter and cider.

Children will find fun and excitement with time-honored games popular with kids more than 150 years ago. Take them on a hay-wagon ride or simply stroll through history, enjoying the sights, sounds and smells of a simpler time.

Missouri Town 1855 is an authentic, antebellum farming community owned and operated by Jackson County Parks + Rec. It is comprised of more than 25 authentically furnished buildings dating from the 1820's to 1860's on 30 picturesque acres. For more information, visit
