Jackson County Parks + Rec gears up for “Trip the Light Fantastic”
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – By popular demand, “Trip the Light Fantastic” returns to Jackson County. Bicycle enthusiasts will enjoy a magical 4.5-mile ride up to and through the more than 175 lighted, animated displays comprising Jackson County’s 30th Annual Christmas in the Park.
Media are invited to showcase this visual holiday event, its creativity and conduct interviews with Parks + Rec staff and participants. Prizes will be awarded for the Best Lit/Holiday Decorated Bike and Best Holiday Dressed Individual before the ride gets underway.

Parental discretion is advised for riders under the age of 10 as the course can be dark and hilly in places. Headlights and helmets are required for this night ride.
“Trip the Light Fantastic” is free to those who sign up by Sunday, Nov. 19. Cyclists can pre-register online at www.makeyourdayhere.com/lightfantastic or in person at the packet pick-up event on Sunday, Nov. 19. It’ll be from 2-4 p.m. at Gusto Coffee Shop, located at 3390 SW Fascination Drive in Lee’s Summit.
T-Shirts will also be sold for $15 at Gusto Coffee Bistro on Nov. 19 and at the ride finish line, while supplies last. A portion of the proceeds benefit the Salvation Army.
On-site registration will be available for a $5 fee on the day of the event. Event parking will be at MCC Longview Community College.
About Christmas in the Park
Since its opening in 1987, millions of patrons have made a drive through Jackson County’s Christmas in The Park a part of their annual holiday experience. Christmas in The Park is open nightly from November 22 through December 31 at Longview Lake Park, located two miles south of I-470 off of View High Drive.
