Usher in the fall season by spending the day with your family at Jackson County Parks + Rec’s 42nd Annual Fall Festival of Arts, Crafts and Music, at Missouri Town 1855, October 7 and 8.
The entire village comes alive with the authentic music of the 1850s. Start your holiday shopping with the unique handcrafted gifts by talented artisans. Knowledgeable interpreters will share their passion for bygone skills such as cooking over a wood fire, wood working, blacksmithing, and a variety of fiber crafts. Visit with staff and volunteers as they prepare homemade apple butter and cider. Children will find fun and excitement with time honored games popular with kids over 150 years ago!
Highlights include:
- A special visit from Johnny Crawford of the T.V. series “The Rifleman”
- A mule powered sorghum mill, which demonstrates the entire process of sorghum production
- An antique tractor show
- A food court featuring all of your favorite festival foods
- The Missouri Town Musicians, Dancers, and Clog Dancers providing entertainment
Whether you end your visit with a hay wagon ride or simply stroll through the authentic antebellum architecture, your family will enjoy a special day of the sights, sounds and smells of a simpler time!
Missouri Town 1855 is comprised of more than 25 authentically furnished buildings dating from the 1820s to 1860s on 30 picturesque acres. Located at 8010 East Park Road, Lee’s Summit, Mo. on the east side of Lake Jacomo in Fleming Park. Admission is $10 per car or $20 per bus.
