KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Join Jackson County COMBAT in celebrating recovery and drug and violence prevention at COMBAT's Community Picnic.
This year’s theme is “Hear Our Voices.” By sharing stories and experiences, we are able to promote hope, action and change. Media are encouraged to attend.
This free, family-friendly event is an opportunity to get information about the critical programs and resources offered by COMBAT-funded agencies. In addition, guests can meet and greet with newly-appointed COMBAT Director Teesha Miller.
Miller will join Jackson County Legislators Scott Burnett and Alfred Jordan, as well as Raytown Mayor Mike McDonough, who will welcome community leaders and guests. Then, hear a local, personal testimony on the importance of violence prevention in our communities. Hot 103 Jamz Radio Host Shay Moore serves as this year’s emcee.
Increasing awareness of COMBAT is just one aspect of this great event. Hot dogs, hamburgers and ice cream will be served until supplies last. Guests can also enjoy games and fun activities, including:
Balloon Artist Kickball
Bubble Performers Petting Zoo
Caricature Drawing Photo Booth
Face Painting Pony Rides
The afternoon will also feature dynamic performances from the Hailey Massingale band, spoken word, rap, song and the Lyricism 101 team from The Boys and Girls Club of Greater Kansas City, who competed nationally in Atlanta, Georgia.
