KANSAS CITY, MO (Dec.1, 2016) — Jackson County Executive Frank White, Jr., will be providing meals to those in need along with other volunteers and church members at the Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church starting at 11:00 a.m. on Dec. 25.

This is the 10th year that Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church has been providing meals to those in need on Christmas Day, according to the church’s pastor, Rev. John Modest Miles.

“Our mission is to serve others and be a blessing to the less fortunate,” Miles said. He estimates that the church will serve about 950 meals on Dec. 25 this year.

Volunteers will provide free meals to the community from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Morning Star Youth & Family Life Center, located directly across from the church at 2525 E. 27th St., Kansas City, Mo. Afterward, volunteers will walk the streets to share hot meals and winter clothing essentials with homeless individuals.

“At this time of year, it’s important to give back to others and share our time, love and resources,” said White.

People who are interested in volunteering on Christmas Day should contact the church by Dec. 15 by calling 816-923-3559 or sending an email to morningstarbc@kc.rr.com.
