Lee's Summit Road Project Update

Lee's Summit Road Project

Finishing ahead of schedule and within budget, Jackson County’s portion of the Lee’s Summit Road Improvement Project is nearing the final stage of completion.

The project is a 6-mile, collaborative effort to improve Lee’s Summit Road from Colbern Road to U.S. 40 Highway. Jackson County joined MoDOT, Independence, Kansas City and the City of Lee’s Summit in the project. The MoDOT and County portions along with the City of Lee’s Summit’s section on the south end bring a combined 13.4 million dollars in Federal Surface Transportation Program (STP) funding to the residents of Jackson County.

Kansas City 5th District Councilwoman Alissia Canady said, “This project is a good example of the combined efforts between the County, Kansas City and federal funding to improve roadways in the growing economical areas.”
