Magical Bike Ride through Jackson County’s Christmas in the Park

Date: Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2016

Time: 5 p.m. – On-site registration;
6 – 7 p.m. – 4.5-mile course is open to ride

Fee: FREE to ride if registered by Nov. 20, 2016
$5 if registering on-site/event day

By popular demand, TRIP THE LIGHT FANTASTIC returns to Jackson County! Bicycle enthusiasts will again enjoy a magical bike ride through the more than 175 lighted, animated displays that comprise Jackson County Parks + Rec’s Christmas in The Park on Tuesday, Nov. 22, the night before Christmas in The Park opens to the public.

The 4.5 mile course will be open to ride from 6 - 7 p.m. The ride will get underway at the Frank White, Jr., Ballpark Parking Lot, 3901 Longview Road, and continue along County Park Road to Christmas in The Park before exiting onto Longview Road and finishing in front of Gusto! Coffee Bistro, 3390 Fascination Drive, Lee’s Summit. The course can be dark and hilly in places. Parental discretion is advised for riders under the age of 10.

99.7 The Point morning host Kelly Urich will host a Street Party at the Finish Line with entertainment provided by the Tevin Williams Band. Prizes will be awarded for the Best Holiday Decorated Bike, Best Holiday Dressed Individual and Ugliest Holiday Sweater after all cyclists have completed the course around 7:30 p.m.

Event registration is FREE to those who sign up by Sunday, Nov. 20. Cyclists can register online at or in person at the packet pick-up event to be held at Gusto Coffee Shop, 3390 SW Fascination Drive, Lee’s Summit, Mo, on Sunday, Nov. 20, from 2 - 4 p.m. Cyclists who register on-site at the event will pay a $5 fee. On-site registration will be available beginning at 5 p.m. in the Frank White, Jr., Ballpark Complex parking lot. Event parking will be at MCC Longview Community College.

Since its opening in 1987, millions of patrons have made a drive through Jackson County’s ‘Christmas in The Park’ part of their annual holiday experience. ‘Christmas in The Park’ is open nightly from November 23 through December 31 at Longview Lake Park, located two miles south of I-470 off of View High Drive.
