Jackson County COMBAT invites community to Grand Opening of “Hope Hangout” Aug. 15

Jackson County COMBAT is inviting members of the community to the grand opening of Hope Hangout, located on the grounds of Bethel Family Workshop Center in Kansas City. The center will serve as a safe place for youth to go after school and on weekends.

New center to serve as a safe place for youth

KANSAS CITY, MO. (Aug.11, 2016) – Jackson County COMBAT is inviting members of the community to the grand opening of the Hope Hangout, located on the grounds of Bethel Family Workshop Center, 10801 Ruskin Way, Kansas City, Mo., at 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 15.

The Hope Hangout will serve as a safe place for youth to go after school and on weekends. It will provide youth development programs such as the OK program, Boy Scouts, tutoring and mentoring.

“Jackson County COMBAT is pleased to have led this cooperative effort between so many interested organizations for the benefit of kids in our community,” said Stacey Daniels-Young, Jackson County COMBAT Director.

The Hope Hangout is the result of a successful collaboration between the Kansas City Police Department South Patrol, the Hickman Mills School District Superintendent, Hickman Mills Prevention Coalition, neighborhood associations, Jackson County Family Court and social services agencies.
