Fire and snow. Normally the two don't go together. But they certainly did — in spectacular fashion — during the ceremonial lighting of the Historic Truman Courthouse and Independence Square. On one of the chillier evenings of what has been a mild autumn, about the 300 people attended the ceremony, which featured the Quixotic Fire dancers and a laser light show that projected giant snowflakes onto the Truman Courthouse.
"I've always considered the lighting of the historic courthouse the official start of the holiday season in our community," said Jackson County Executive Mike Sanders. "This year we added some new twists to this great tradition. We made the ceremony bigger, better and brighter than ever."
