Sheriff Phillips' 30 Years Of Service Honored

Jackson County Sheriff Tom Phillips was presented his 30-year service pin by County Executive Mike Sanders during the County Legislature's February 11 meeting.

Phillips began his career with the Jackson County Sheriff's Office in 1978 and rose through the ranks until assuming the duties of Sheriff in August of 2000 upon the death of Sheriff Jim Anderson. In November of 2000 and again in 2004 Sheriff Phillips was elected to office and has announced that he will retire at the end of his term in December of 2008.

During his career with the Jackson County Sheriff's Office, Phillips has served as the Detective Division Commander, Emergency Response Team Commander and Officer in Charge of the Jackson County Drug Task Force. He is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy and National Sheriff's Institute.
