Welcome Freshmen

Jackson County Executive Frank White, Jr., stressed the importance of learning the basics while talking to a group of 125 incoming freshmen students at Cristo Rey Kansas City.

“You’ve started by learning the basic skills of business,” he said. “How to properly shake a hand, how to answer the phone, how to file paperwork. The basics may sound boring, but they are important. It’s like practice. To perform your best, you have to practice and understand the fundamentals.”

Cristo Rey Kansas City is a member of the Cristo Rey Network. The Cristo Rey Network consists of 32 quality, Catholic, college preparatory high schools for urban youth with limited educational options. All students at Cristo Rey Network schools participate in a Corporate Work Study program through which they finance the majority of the cost of their education, gain real world job experience, grow in self-confidence, and realize the relevance of their education.
