Georgianne Bear with the Jackson County Medical Examiner’s Office was recently recognized by the Midwest Transplant Network for her contributions to donation and transplantation.
Georgianne, an Administrative Assistant for the office, was nominated by the Quality Department at MTN for the Excellence Award. In the nomination letter, she was described as willing to assist with anything needed on a donor case in a timely manner.
“The donation process includes many behind the scene steps to ensure that all organ transplant recipients are provided the healthiest organs possible. It is important for any anomalies reported in the final autopsy be conveyed to the transplant center for their determination of patient safety and possible treatment. Because of Georgianne’s dedication to donation, she is proactive and takes it upon herself to follow up with us to ensure we have the autopsy reports,” the letter said.
“Jackson County is also one of the few medical examiner offices currently completing Summary of Gross Autopsy forms, which are needed to release fresh tissue grafts. Georgianne is more than willing to help complete these forms when requested. Overall, she is a pleasure to work with and without her support we wouldn’t be able to make a difference in the lives of those awaiting these tissues for transplant.”
Georgianne Bear, second from right, receives Excellence Award from Jan Finn, MTN COO, Jackson County Medical Examiner Dr. Diane Peterson and Rob Linderer, MTN CEO.
