Effective March 24, 2020, Jackson County Human Resources offices in the Jackson County Courthouse at 415 E. 12th Street in Kansas City will be closed to the public for at least 30 days in an effort to help mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 virus. During this closure, any contact or business that you wish to conduct with the County must be done by phone, electronically (email or fax), or regular mail.

The employees of Jackson County fill a vast array of positions, but they are all part of 1 team sharing a common goal -- serving the County's citizens.

The County only accepts applications for open positions. You can apply for many positions online.

However, it is important to closely review the Application Procedures, for many positions do require testing. Therefore, they must be applied for in person.

HR's 2 Units
The Human Resources Department has divided its basic functions into 2 units:
  1. The Employment and Compensation Unit recruits, screens, tests and refers qualified applicants for hire.
  2. The Classification and Benefits Unit maintains the job evaluation and classification systems, and coordinates training within the County. Also administers employee benefits.
