Firework Sales: Permits & Licenses
Please submit your Firework Applications by April 29, 2021, via email to Mary Jo Spino, mspino@jacksongov.org. Note that Zoning Determinations will need to be emailed to the Public Works Department separately.

Firework applications will be due Thursday, April 29, 2021.
The Jackson County Legislature enacted Chapter 56, Jackson County Code related to the issuance of permits for the seasonal retail sale by non-profit organizations and the licensure of wholesale and retail sales by wholesale fireworks distributors of consumer fireworks. During the course of this year and in future years, the Legislature may make changes to the application process and scope and use of the permits and licenses as deemed necessary for public safety concerns and practical experience.

return them to Mary Jo Spino in the County Clerk’s Office no later than April 29, 2021.

The Zoning Determination Form (PDF) needs to be completed and returned to the Department of Public Works in Independence no later than April 29,2021 for all seasonal sales permits and the initial period for wholesale distributor licenses. The Department of Public Works will forward the determination to the County Clerk.
Applicants will be notified if accepted. Non-profit organizations must be in existence for at least 5 years for consideration. Please understand that there will be 4 licenses issued to wholesale distributors (with optional retail sales) and a total of 9 permits issued to non-profit organizations. Preference will be given to Jackson County distributors and organizations.
