Jeff Duncan has distinguished himself with the Parks + Rec Department with his exemplary leadership of his crew.
His hands-on leadership was showcased while clearing snow and ice from sidewalks and steps at the county’s Kansas City and Independence facilities. During the past winter he was often operating a tractor, shoveling snow and chipping ice to help meet the mission of providing a safe path for associates and the public.
Jeff directly oversees and participates in the clearing and treatment of a mile of sidewalk and the many steps and entrances for county facilities including courthouses and the detention center.
Over the past winter, associates from the Longview maintenance facility responded nearly 70 times for snow and ice duty in downtown. Jeff was involved in most of those weather call outs. Many of those calls began at 3 a.m. in sub-zero temperatures. Some of the calls were over the weekend to serve the Corrections facility.
Jeff also provided meaningful input in the revision of the Snow/Ice Standard Operating Procedures for 2018-19. His comments helped improve the efficiency of snow/ice operations.
