The opioid epidemic in Kansas City as well as the rest of the United States has reached crisis proportions. From 2013 to 2016 the number of opioid overdose deaths rose by more than 68% nationally. A recent issue of Kansas City Medicine explored the Opioid Crisis. Three physicians with the Jackson County Medical Examiner’s Office authored on article for the magazine on opioid-related deaths in the Kansas City area.
