Celebrate model flying, friendship and fun when the RC Clubs at the Charles W. Reed III Memorial Flying Field at Jackson County's Fleming Park sponsor this National Model Aviation Day Fun Fly!  Cash deductible donations will be accepted to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project.  The event is sponsored by the KC Radio Control Association, Mid-America 49th Jumbo Squadron, RC Sport Flyers, KC Helicopters, and Eagles Association Helicopter Club.

Explore how early French settlers lived at the confluence of the Missouri and Kansas Rivers in the late 1700s. Re-enactors will interpret everyday life skills common on the frontier. Artisans will display custom made objects, both decorative and utilitarian, which were essential to these early settlers.

As darkness envelops Missouri Town, the village comes alive with goblins, ghosts and other spooky creatures. Visitors will encounter a variety of unworldly sights and sounds at this fun-filled family oriented Halloween event. Complimentary hot cider and a special appearance by Edgar Allen Poe are but a prelude to the haunted hayride that concludes this night of surprises. Advance reservations required!

Executed with historical accuracy, this annual re-enactment relives events surrounding the prelude to the War of 1812, as Fort Osage hears for the first time war has been declared with Britain. Musket and cannons are made ready, civilians are conscript, and both residents and soldiers stationed at this remote frontier outpost are on alert.  Visitors can literally feel the tension of the unknown and share the fear and excitement with our re-enactors as Fort Osage prepares for war!

TRIP THE LIGHT FANTASTIC is a FREE EVENT for bicyclists to enjoy a four-mile Magical Ride through the hundreds of lighted, animated displays at Jackson County’s Christmas in the Park! Prizes will be awarded to the Best Holiday Decorated Bike, Best Holiday Dressed Individual, and Ugliest Christmas Sweater. Long-sleeved event t-shirts can be purchased for $15/each with a portion of the proceeds benefitting the Salvation Army. 

Please note this is a dark and hilly 4.5-mile ride so may not be suitable for younger children.

The Christmas customs of English, German and French settlers are brought to life in this historic antebellum community. The smell of wood burning fireplaces, period music and authentic decorations, make this a “must attend” holiday experience.  A special visit and candy treat from “Belsnickle” will thrill children of all ages.
