Jackson County Public Works
Planning gives residents, business owners and community leaders a means to create a shared image of the community they hope to enjoy in the future. The Jackson County Charter called for the development of a county plan and in 1994, the Jackson County Legislature fulfilled that duty by adopting Strategy for the Future. In November 2012, the county charter also adopted the Development Plan. The plan is first and foremost, a guide. The goals and policies of the plan provide a framework for elected and appointed officials to make decisions affecting land use, economic development, public infrastructure, public services and natural resources. Private decision-makers can use the plan to identify County policies and priorities to help them make development and investment decisions more predictable. It is a dynamic document that could and should be subject to periodic change when conditions within the County change significantly.
