Jackson County Public Works
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department has purchased a new building located at 4001 Lakewood Way in Lee’s Summit. The Sheriff’s Department secured a grant that will finance more than half of the cost of the renovations. The most recognizable view of the structure is that seen from 291 Highway near Woods Chapel Road.
Jackson County Public Works is doing the design work with the Sheriff’s Department providing appropriate law enforcement expertise and oversight. Construction will be done under the supervision of the Facilities Management and Engineering Divisions of Public Works.
Renovations are expected to include an improved dispatch room, electrical upgrades, transaction windows, ADA improvements and general security improvements commensurate with a law enforcement facility.
Outside work includes a secure fenced parking lot to be constructed at the rear of the building, exterior door replacement and installation of a communications tower.
