Eastern Jackson County Courthouse Renovations

December 2014 - Phase One of the interior renovations was completed the first of December. Renovations included upgrades to the plumbing and finishes in the restrooms and stairways. The project improvements were all designed internally by Jackson County Engineers.

Burns and McDonnell has been awarded the contract to design major renovations for the Eastern Jackson County Courthouse

The major renovations are now underway. These renovations address the need for additional courtroom space as the population growth continues to occur in the eastern part of Jackson County. The space for the additional courtrooms is a result of relocating the Recorder of Deeds, Collections Department and Assessment Department, to the Historic Jackson County Truman Courthouse. The major renovations include five new courtrooms with associated support space for the 16th District Circuit Court, an additional elevator and new egress stairway.

The exterior renovations were completed by Performance Contracting, Inc in the Spring of 2014. The overall scope of the exterior renovations included power washing the entire building, tuckpointing, caulking, sidewalk repairs, and new stairs leading to the building.

The entire renovations to the Eastern Jackson County Courthouse are expected to be completed in December 2015.

November 2013 - Performance Contracting, Inc. will begin making exterior repairs to the building sometime around the first of December.  Work may be sporadic depending upon weather conditions, but the overall scope of the project includes power washing the entire building, tuckpointing, caulking and some sidewalk repair.  The work should be totally complete in late spring.  Cost for this contract is $325,000.

Jackson County Courthouse AnnexBurns and McDonnell has been awarded the contract to design major renovations for the Eastern Jackson County Courthouse (formerly called the Jackson County Courthouse Annex). HOK is providing courtroom planning and design.

The renovations are expected to include five new courtrooms with associated support space, another elevator and a new egress stairway. The renovations address the need for more courtroom space as population growth continues to occur in the eastern part of the county.

The space for the additional courtrooms is a result of moving county operations, including the Recorder of Deeds, Collections Department and Assessment Department, to the Historic Jackson County Truman Courthouse. Those moves will happen in late summer or early fall 2013. It is expected to take nearly a year for the design to be completed.
