Facility Reservations

From Outdoor Picnic Shelters to State-of-the-Art Indoor Meeting Rooms, Jackson County Parks + Rec has the perfect facility for your upcoming wedding, reunion, office picnic, or special event!

Parks Shelters

Shelters located at Longview LakeBlue Springs LakeLake Jacomo and several outlying parks are available for use beginning May 1 through September 30. Reservations are accepted beginning January 2 for shelter use during the calendar year. Reservations may be made in person, online or by phone at (816) 503-4805. Payments will be accepted by check or by MasterCard, Visa or Novus/Discover at the time of reservation. Reservations are on a first-come, first-served basis each year. Reservations must be a minimum of 7 days in advance of the date
requested and the person making the reservation must be at least 21 years of age.

All shelter use is by reservation only. Reservations will be confirmed by permit issuance. Reservations may be canceled with 10 days notice and the return of the issued permit. There will be a $10.00 service charge on all shelter house refunds.

Fleming Park Meeting Hall

This multi-use facility is located on Woods Chapel Road and is available for year round rental. The large meeting area (capacity of 75 people) with full utility kitchen and backyard area with picnic tables and grill, make this hall perfect for organizational meetings and family gatherings. Please contact the Permit and Reservation Office at (816) 503-4805 for further information regarding fees and current space availability for each location. Rental fees are as follows:

1-5 Hours $175.00
Over 5 Hours $250.00
Holiday Rental (full-day rental)
(New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day)
$250.00

NOTE: A $150.00 refundable cleaning/damage deposit is required upon application. Facility is available for rental from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.


Kemper Outdoor Education Center

A wedding in the Kemper Outdoor Education CenterThe grounds at the Kemper Outdoor Education Center are available to rent for
weddings, picnics, reunions, birthday parties and pool parties. Rental areas include the butterfly garden, shelter house and 15' x 30' in-ground pool with change house. There is no lighting on the property so all events must conclude before dusk.

The Kemper Gardens (water gardens and butterfly gardens) are available for rent for wedding ceremonies. The home on the property is available for the bridal party to use for dressing but is not open to guests.

Cost:  $600 for the first four hours plus $100 for each additional hour.  If you plan to use the in-ground pool, a $20 per hour lifeguard fee is also required. Your 50% deposit will hold and confirm your date.

Fred Arbanas Golf Course Meeting Room

This 1,100 sq. ft. multi-purpose meeting room is perfect for organizing golf tournaments, business meetings, birthday or retirement parties, and much more! The airy windows offer stunning views of the Fred Arbanas Golf Course, an 18-hole Championship Course as well as the nine-hole Par 3 Executive Course. The snack bar is also conveniently located in the clubhouse for refreshments. Seating capacity is 75.

Cost:  $100 - Monday-Thursday until 5 pm
          $150 - Evenings & Weekends until close

Fort Osage Education Center Meeting Rooms

Fort Osage Education Center offers meeting rooms for corporate, professional and social groups in a state-of-the-art facility overlooking historic Fort Osage and the Missouri River. You may enhance the experience for your participants with tours of the Education Center museum and the authentically reconstructed frontier fort. Living history interpretive staff in period attire, guided tours of the interactive exhibits, as well as educational programs can be scheduled to supplement your meeting agenda.

The Fort Osage Education Center’s award-winning design incorporates the environmental standards of the U.S. Green Building Council. Your group can explore how Fort Osage, the Missouri River and the Lewis and Clark expedition shaped our local history, while meeting in facilities that set the standard for responsible design and construction in the 21st Century. Located in Sibley, Missouri, only 10 minutes from Independence; 15 minutes
from Blue Springs.
