Celebrate the arrival of fall at Missouri Town 1855!  Enjoy 1850’s music and dance, horse drawn buggy rides, hot-spiced cider, children’s games, period arts and crafts, and fun-filled hay rides.  Now in its 40th year, the Missouri Town 1855 Fall Festival is one of our region’s longest running consecutive festivals!  Please, no pets.

This is the perfect afternoon for dog lovers and their humans. Event highlights include the Halloween Costume Contest, Agility Fun Run, Dock Diving, Frisbee Competition, Obedience Obstacle Courses, Dog/Owner Look-Alike Contest, and the Blessing of the Animals.  In lieu of an admission fee, dog food donations will be accepted and given to local animal shelters. CLICK HERE for more information.

As darkness envelops Missouri Town, the village comes alive with goblins, ghosts and other spooky creatures.  Visitors will encounter a variety of unworldly sights and sounds at this fun-filled family oriented Halloween event.  Complimentary hot cider and a special appearance by Edgar Allen Poe are but a prelude to the haunted hayride that concludes this night of surprises.  Advance reservations required! CLICK HERE for reservations.

You’ll feel fall in the air as you stroll along trails aglow with hundreds of carved, lighted pumpkins at Cave Springs Park. There will be lots of fun-filled activities for the kids and food vendors will be on site.

Executed with historical accuracy, this annual re-enactment relives events surrounding the prelude to the War of 1812, as Fort Osage hears for the first time war has been declared with Britain.  Musket and cannons are made ready, civilians are conscript, and both residents and soldiers stationed at this remote frontier outpost are on alert.  Visitors can literally feel the tension of the unknown and share the fear and excitement with our re-enactors as Fort Osage prepares for war!

Jackson County Parks + Rec and 99.7 The Point kick-off your holiday season, and the opening of Christmas In The Park, with Christmas In The Sky.  This magical evening showcases holiday entertainment and an amazing fireworks display, synchronized to your favorite holiday music, and simulcast on 99.7 The Point. 
Directions to Christmas In The Sky: I 470 East to Raytown Road, then follow the signs south two miles to the Longview Lake Beach entrance.

Directions to Christmas In The Park: I 470 East to View High Drive, then go about two miles south to 3rd Street. Follow the signs to Jackson County’s Christmas In The Park located in the Longview Lake Campground at 10711 West Scherer Road, Kansas City, MO 64134.

The Christmas customs of English, German and French settlers are brought to life in this historic antebellum community. The smell of wood burning fireplaces, period music and authentic decorations, make this a “must attend” holiday experience.  A special visit and candy treat from “Belsnickle” will thrill children of all ages.
