Managed Hunts In Jackson County Parks

Jackson County Parks + Rec, in cooperation with the Missouri Department of Conservation, have conducted Managed Hunts in selected parks since 1994.  The purpose of the program is to maintain the deer population at manageable numbers to prevent overpopulation, reduce the risk of disease infestation and help reduce deer/vehicle accidents.  Seven County parks are currently involved in the program.

To apply to participate in a Managed Hunt go to www.mdc.mo.gov and fill out the online application between July 1 and August 15, 2013. All applications must be made through the Missouri Department of Conservation.  Jackson County is not involved in the application or selection process.

For more information on all statewide Managed Deer Hunts go to the M.D.C. website or see the “2013 Fall Deer & Turkey Hunting Regulations and Information” brochure available where hunting permits are sold.

A $10.00 permit fee will be collected from each hunt participant by Jackson County Parks + Rec.

•For all muzzleloader hunts, the fee must be paid by cash or check only at the pre-hunt orientation for that hunt.

•For all archery hunt sessions at Blue & Gray Park and Longview Lake, participants may choose to pay either over the phone, (816-503-4800), by mail, or in person at the Registration Office located at 22807 Woods Chapel Road Blue Springs, Missouri 64015 between the dates listed on your notification letter.  One payment may be made for multiple hunters by including the name of the hunt and name of each participant covered by the payment.

•For archery hunt sessions at Blue Springs Lake, Landahl Park and Blue River Parkway, a mandatory orientation will be held at 8:00 a.m. on the first Saturday that tree stands may be placed in the hunt area.  Stands may not beplaced prior to the orientation.

Statewide hunting regulations apply. It is the participants’ responsibility to know and obey hunt boundaries and rules. Participation in a managed hunt on Jackson County property does not give you the right to trespass on private property or park illegally. Use of ATV’s during the hunt is prohibited with the exception of Monkey Mountain.

For all other questions, contact Bruce Wilke at 816-503-4802 or bwilke@jacksongov.org.
