AUGUST 9, 2010 -- The Jackson County Sheriff's Office has captured a man wanted for his alleged involvement in a kidnapping in Pettis County, Missouri.
Acting on information the Jackson County Sheriff's Office obtained about the fugitive's location, the Sheriff's Office Response Team (SORT) converged on a residence located near Missouri Highway 7 and Herring Road in unincorporated Jackson County on the afternoon Friday, August 6. They took into custody Justin R. Shelledy, 32, of Sedalia, Missouri, on an warrant for kidnapping. Shelledy did not resist and was later transported to the Jackson County Detention Center.
Jackson County Sheriff Mike Sharp was on the scene and congratulated the members of the SORT unit for their professionalism in making the arrest without incident. He also praised the Jackson County Sheriff's Investigations Division for working diligently with other law enforcement agencies to locate and apprehend the fugitive.
The Pettis County Sheriffs Department was immediately notified about the arrest.
Charges against Shelledy include Felony Domestic Assault in the Second Degree, Felony Kidnapping, Felony Unlawful use of a Firearm, Felony Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Felony Armed Criminal Action.
