The Jackson County Collections Department will have extended hours Monday, December 29 through Wednesday, December 31 to accept tax payments. Those three days, the Collections offices in the Jackson County Courthouse (415 E. 12th Street in Kansas City on the first floor) and Courthouse Annex (308 W. Kansas Avenue in Independence on the first floor) will be open 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Taxpayers using the Courthouse in Kansas City 7:00 to 8:00 a.m. should enter the building through the ground floor West (Oak Street) entrance and 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. through the North (12th Street) entrance.
Payments by mail must be postmarked by December 31 to be considered on time.
A secured payment drop box will be located in the garage of the Jackson County Courthouse (415 E. 12th Street in Kansas City) to receive tax payments from 6:00 p.m. to midnight December 31.
