To be timely, payment of 2013 property taxes must be received or postmarked no later than December 31, 2013. Interest, penalties and fees will accrue if payment is late.

To save time and avoid crowds, online payment is encouraged. The online payment website will close at 11:00 p.m. on December 31, 2013. Taxes paid online after the website reopens in 2014 will accrue interest, penalties and fees pursuant to Missouri statutes.

Regular Hours
Collection Department offices in the Jackson County Courthouse (415 E. 12th Street in Kansas City on the first floor) and the Historic Truman Courthouse (112 W. Lexington in Independence on the first floor) are open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding observed holidays.

Notice
In observance of holidays, all Jackson County offices, including the Courthouse in Kansas City and the Historic Truman Courthouse in Independence, will be closed on the following days:

Monday, November 11, 2013 Veterans Day
Thursday, November 28, 2013
& Friday, November 29, 2013
Thanksgiving and
the day after
Wednesday, December 25, 2013 Christmas Day

Drop Box
On Tuesday, December 31, 2013, a drop box for property tax payments will be located at the west door of the Jackson County Courthouse in Kansas City (415 E. 12th Street) and at the front door of the Historic Truman Courthouse in Independence (112 W. Lexington). Both drop boxes will close at midnight. Do not place cash in either drop box.
