Affiliations / Community Partners
The Jackson County Medical Examiner’s Office is accredited by the National Association of Medical Examiners, which conducts regular inspections to maintain the accreditation. Additionally, the Office operates a Fellowship Training Program in Forensic Pathology, which is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.
The medical staff and investigative staff have various memberships and affiliations with professional organizations, including:
The medical staff have clinical faculty appointments in the Department of Pathology at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine, lecturing in the medical school Pathology course, and allowing medical students to rotate at the Medical Examiner’s Office. Additionally, we participate in the training of UMKC Residents in Pathology, Children’s Mercy Hospital fellows in Pediatric Pathology and Child Abuse Care, and offer educational opportunities to other students in medical-related fields from various institutions throughout the Metro area. The medical staff also conduct educational lectures whenever called upon, at local hospitals and other community organizations.
