The Information Technology (IT) Department is responsible for the computer and telecommunication operations within Jackson County.
The Department provides desktop hardware and software support as well as client server-based hardware and software. An applications programming staff and a network support staff serve the specialized computing needs of County government, from the Jackson County Detention Center to the Assessment and Collections departments.
IT designs, writes and installs application solutions to meet the diverse needs of each department. IT is responsible for maintaining the integrity and security of the County's network infrastructure. The IT Department also operates a Help Desk, a central place where all County government computer-related calls are logged in and from which technicians are dispatched.
IT is looking for ways to improve the computing environment in order to make Jackson County government more efficient, and to ease the taxpayers' interactions with Jackson County.
The IT Department includes Geographic Information Systems (GIS), which is responsible for managing the mapping needs of the County and the distribution of the map products, both hardcopy and digital, to other County departments, cities, state and federal agencies, and Jackson County citizens.
