January 1: Assessed Date of Value -- What you own on New Year's Day is what you will owe tax on for the year.

January 2: New Year's Day Observed (Jackson County Offices Closed).

March 1: The Assessment Department will provide the Clerk of the Legislature with preliminary assessment books, featuring preliminary values.

March 15: Clerk of the Legislature will provide aggregate values -- the grand total of preliminary values -- to the political subdivisions (school districts, cities, fire districts, etc.).

April 30: The Collection Department will provide the projected tax liability to the Assessment Department.

May 1: The first day for the Assessment Department to send value notices to taxpayers.

May 28: Deadline for review of assessments (non-reassessment year).

June 15: The last day for the Assessment Department to send value notices to taxpayers with projected tax liability.

June 30: The Certification of tax roll is set with final numbers -- no longer preliminary or estimated figures.

July 1: The Assessment Department is required to provide final assessment books -- final values -- to the Clerk of the Legislature.

July 1: The Board of Equalization may convene.

First Monday in July: Board of Equalization may meet.

Second Monday in July: The deadline for taxpayers to appeal to the Board of Equalization.

July 10: The Clerk of the Legislature will provide aggregate values -- final total values -- to the State Tax Commission.

Fourth Saturday in August: The Board of Equalization concludes its session. (Date can be extended by the board.)

September 30: The deadline for taxpayers to appeal a Board of Equalization decision to the State Tax Commission.

October 1: Political subdivisions -- school districts, fire districts, cities, etc. -- final levies are due.

December 1: The Collection Department must mail tax statements.
