The Kemper Outdoor Education Center's offers an outdoor Team Building program for groups as young as 5th graders through adults. Groups face multiple challenges that foster communication, cooperation, problem solving, group cohesiveness,  mutual respect, support, conflict resolution, broader perspective, sensitivity to others (especially those a bit different than oneself), excellence, out-of-the-box thinking, strategic planning, risk taking, confidence, and a sense of connectedness to the natural world. Group sizes from 10 to as large as 120 can be accommodated.

These innovative environmental education field trips feature multi-station experiences for school groups of up to 150 students. Teachers design their own field trip by choosing 4 to 6 topics from a menu of twenty. Topics include live reptile and amphibian programs, habitat hikes, birds and binoculars, skins & skulls, wild canids, soil conservation, recycling relays, bats, humane education, nature scavenger hunts and a variety of ecosystem choices.

The personal drama and tensions of pre Civil War Missouri are brought to life by skilled re-enactors. The real history of the “Border Wars” will be presented with carefully researched accounts. This is a perfect opportunity for visitors to participate in the Sesquicentennial Commemoration of the Civil War.

Explore how early French settlers lived at the confluence of the Missouri and Kansas Rivers in the late 1700s. Re-enactors will interpret everyday life skills common on the frontier. Artisans will display custom made objects, both decorative and utilitarian, which were essential to these early settlers.
