NOTARY PUBLIC APPLICATION
Applications for a commission as a notary public can be downloaded from the Missouri Secretary of State's website at www.sos.mo.gov/business/commissions. A Notary Public in Jackson County, Missouri, must pick up their commission from the County Clerk's office:

The hours at both locations are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Independence location is closed 1-2 p.m. for lunch daily. If a notary wishes to pick up his/her commission from the Independence location, it is necessary to contact the Kansas City office one day prior so it can be sent to Independence. When picking up a commission, the notary public should bring his/her $10,000 notary bond, letter received from the Secretary of State and $5.00 processing fee.
