Scenes From
Opening Day At The New

APRIL 10, 2009 -- The opening day of a new baseball season is always a special occasion. Every fan in every Major League city is brimming with hope that “this could be our year”—that the next six months could be filled with enough wins to keep their team playing well into October.

Fans in Kansas City and Jackson County have already won big.

Kauffman Stadium
With its signature fountains representing the “City of Fountains,” Kauffman Stadium has always been among the most beautiful places in all of America to watch and play baseball. Royals Stadium was a state-of-the-art facility when it first opened in 1973, and now through the renovations made possible by the voters of Jackson County—renovations completed on time and on budget—“The K” is brand new again. The Kansas City Royals have a home that is now undeniably world class, rivaling any stadium in any Major League city.

The “new” Kauffman Stadium was certainly a star attraction as fans packed the stands and the Royals celebrated their home opener April 10 against the New York Yankees.
